NWMHA NEWS

ROGERS HOMETOWN HOCKEY EVENTS

Dear NWMHA parents & players,

Last year it was announced that New Westminster was chosen to be the host city for the nationally televised Roger's Hometown Hockey broadcast. Well known sports broadcaster Ron Maclean and the entire crew will be setting up a large temporary studio just south of the Queen's Park Arena front entrance.

On behalf of the NWMHA, I am pleased to invite you and your entire family to participate in three days of fun activities.

We are kicking off the whole event with a big community welcome rally planned at Queen's Park Arena on Friday Feb 12th. Make sure to mark your calendars for the following free events. <more...>

REST IN PEACE: AARON LOUGHHEAD (1991-2015)

Sadly, we have learned of the passing of one of our own, Aaron Loughhead (1991): player & asst. coach for NMHA. Rest in peace, Aaron.

FIRST ANNUAL AARON LOUGHHEAD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Aaron's impact on hockey, and the hockey community, in New Westminster cannot be overstated. He had many tremendous contributions as a player, and as a coach. In both roles he was creating lifelong friendships and priceless moments of laughter. You could always count on his competitive spirit which added to the joy of the game.

In Aaron's honour, we have established the annual Aaron Loughhead Memorial Scholarship Award in order to recognize a player who contributes to the game in a way that Aaron would be proud of!

The Aaron Loughhead Memorial Scholarship Award will be available to players in Midget and Juvenile, and recipients will be selected and appointed by NWMHA. The scholarship must be used for post secondary education (and proof of schooling is required).

Please donate, like, and share this cause!!!
